Four Year Program Overview
CECA 9 & CECA 10: Through a prescribed curricular system of classes grounded in AVID in both Grade 9 and Grade 10, CECA students will undergo an intense college readiness program.  Furthermore, CECA curriculum in Grades 9 and 10 are influenced by the Enhanced LearningSeries of classes offered at American River College (ARC), as well as input from ARC Faculty and Administration.
CECA 9 Academy Schedule of Classes:
  1. CECA Math 1 or Math 2 (or based on last Math class or recommendation)

  2. CECA Human Biology

  3. CECA English 9

  4. CECA Spanish 1 or 2

  5. AVID 9

  6. PE

  • Flexibility for Band students (contact CECA Counselor for details).

  • CECA classes are taught by CECA trained teachers and are in cohorts of CECA students.

CECA 10 Schedule of Classes:
  1. CECA Math 2 or Math 3 (based on previous Math grade/class)

  2. CECA Physics or CECA Chemistry in the Community

  3. CECA English 10

  4. CECA Spanish 2 or 3

  5. CECA Modern World History & Geography

  6. AVID 10

  • Flexibility for Band students (contact CECA Counselor for details).

  • CECA classes are taught by CECA trained teachers and are in cohorts of CECA students.

  • CECA 10 students will take the ARC Placement Test in mid-February.

  • PE 10 is offered as a Zero Period.  Class size is limited.

CECA 10 students will take the ARC Placement Test second semester.  Enrollment into ARC is based on the results of the ARC Placement Test.  

All CECA students must meet the following prerequisites to be enrolled into ARC:  

1.  GPA of 2.7 or higher  

2. ARC Placement Results  

3. Maturity/Good Character

Grade 11:  California Early College Academy (CECA) is a college readiness program that affords students the opportunity to graduate their senior year with upwards to a full year of transferable college credit through American River College (ARC).  CECA students will be prepared in Grades 9 and 10 to enroll in college level classes beginning as early as Grade 11.  CECA students who place at college level through the ARC Placement Test will have the opportunity to enroll in ARC classes based on competency, counseling, and appropriate placement centered on student’s college readiness. CECA students are allowed a maximum of two (2) college classes per semester while concurrently enrolled in high school.

  1. Trigonometry or Calculus or AP Math 

  2. CECA Physics or Chemistry 

  3. CECA English 11 or AP English 11 or ARC English

  4. CECA Spanish 3/4 or AP Spanish or ARC Spanish 

  5. CECA U.S. History or AP U.S. History or ARC U.S. History

  6. AVID 11

  • CECA Students who pass the ARC Placement Test will begin taking ARC classes.

  • Additional ARC classes are made available to CECA students based on ARC Placement Test Results and prerequisite requirements being met.

  • The ARC Counselor assigned to CECA will advise CECA students on ARC course options, and form an Education Plan for CECA students enrolled at ARC.

  • Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA at ARC, and receive satisfactory grades in ARC courses (C or better), in order to maintain access to ARC.

  • ENGWR 300 (3 Semester Credits)

  • HIST 310 (3 Semester Credits)

  • ANTH 300 (3 Semester Credits)

  • HIST 311 (3 Semester Credits)

  • ENGWR 499 (1.5 Semester Credits)

ARC Summer Session Optional (ARC Counselor will advise)
