California Early College Academy (CECA) is a partnership between Inderkum High School, American River College (ARC), and AVID. CECA is a college readiness pathway that affords students the opportunity to graduate with upwards to a full year of transferable college credit through American River College. CECA students will participate in a rigorous college readiness pathway.

CECA represents a formalized articulation agreement between the Natomas Unified School District and the Los Rios Community College District through which high school students will be concurrently enrolled at Inderkum High School while taking college courses offered through American River College – Natomas Center.

An added benefit of CECA is the opportunity for students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously without the need for transportation to an off-site location. CECA offers a prescribed curricular system of classes grounded in the AVID College Readiness System, and influenced by the Enhanced Learning Series offered to students at American River College. Through the collaborative efforts of Inderkum High School, ARC and AVID, the intended outcome is to provide students with an avenue to be ready for college and career endeavors.

Students will participate in the California Early College Academy college readiness program as outlined below:
  1. Phase 1—College Readiness (Grades 9 Academy and 10)
  2. Phase 2—Early College and Support (Grades 11 and 12)
Type 1College Readiness:  A rigorous series of classes focused on fundamentals, approached  with  AVID pedagogy, and influenced by ARC’s Enhanced Learning Series.
Type 2AVID Classes:  A rigorous series of AVID classes driven by the WICOR method, which  stands for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading.
Type 3Core High School Classes:  A rigorous series of required classes based on California  State Standards and sequenced with college level classes.
Type 4College Classes & Support:  College courses at American River College (ARC),  coupled with participation in CECA/AVID’s College Support Center.
